Pope Honors Mary on 750th Anniversary of the Brown Scapular Promise — July 16, 1251 - July 16, 2001

“Ten years after relocating in Aylesford, England, St. Simon Stock, leader of a group of religious from the holy mountain of Carmel received a visit from Our Lady. As the Holy Virgin handed St. Simon the brown woolen Scapular She spoke these words to all Carmelites: ‘Take this Scapular. Whosoever dies wearing it shall not suffer eternal fire. It shall be a sign of salvation, a protection in danger, and a pledge of peace.’ In time, the Church extended this magnificent privilege to all the laity who are willing to be invested in the Brown Scapular of the Carmelites, and who perpetually wear it.”

Father Gruner has been investing many 100’s of thousands of souls in the Brown Scapular at his Statue Visits and Rosary Rallies over many years and his Fatima Apostolate has been distributing the informative booklet Garment of Grace worldwide as a means of encouraging this devotion.

In this the 750th anniversary of the promise of the Brown Scapular to the Carmelite order, Pope John Paul II has entrusted the third millennium to Mary. (Apostolic letter, Novo Millennio Ineunte)

Pope John Paul revealed, “I, too, have carried the Carmel scapular over my heart for a long time.” He also considered entering the Carmelite order before entering the seminary.

Our Lady’s habit must be worn over the shoulders in such a manner that one part hangs in front of the body and the other in the back. And even non-Catholics receive graces if they wear the Brown Scapular through this devotion to the Mother of God.

Garment of Grace confirms that many miracles have resulted from wearing this scapular. Anyone wishing to be invested in the Brown Scapular is invited to contact the Fatima Center at 1-800-263-8160 and request information as to when Father Gruner will be hosting a Fatima Rosary Rally in their area.

If you would like a free brochure and scapular we’d be happy to send you one.
