The first woman to win the Swiss Bishops’ media award was Sister Ingrid Grave. When directing her show “Sternstunden” (Starry Hours) the habit she wore portrayed the necessary religious and Christian character critical to the program’s success, according to Auxiliary Bishop Peter Henrici of Chur, who conferred the award.
World Peace Conference:
A World Peace Conference is planned for October 2001 — in the Eternal City of Rome. Bishops, priests and laypeople from all over the world will have the opportunity to learn about the true — but oftentimes, unspoken — state of affairs of both the Church and the world in light of the warnings of Our Lady of Fatima, why we need the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and what needs to be done to work towards that triumph. All are invited to attend this Conference dedicated to Our Lady of Fatima. The line-up of riveting speakers includes Father Nicholas Gruner, Father Paul Kramer, John Vennari, Michael Matt, Chris Ferrara, Gerry Matatics, Dr. David Allen White and more.
With so many of our Catholic churches being demolished, there are numerous sacred relics being disposed of at local pawnshops. If there is a church being torn down in your neighborhood and relics are available, please contact us with the name, address and phone number of the church — we will do our best to acquire these and find them a home where they won’t be in danger of being destroyed or displayed sacrilegiously.
Reaching out to our Clergy:
This past May we mailed to thousands of priests a special leaflet titled Heaven Opened by the practice of the Three Hail Marys. This leaflet instructs on the importance of this devotion and is available free to priests who are interested in following in the footsteps of one of the great Doctors of the Church, St. Alphonsus Liguori. St. Alphonsus had an ardent devotion to this practice. The response to this mailing has been good. We have had many priests (and nuns) requesting large quantities of these leaflets for their parishioners, First Communion classes, etc. We also have had requests from priests not previously on our mailing list requesting these leaflets.
Rebuild Homes & Churches Damaged by Muslims:
Over the past 2 years, Muslims in Nigeria have brought into the laws of that country their own Sharia Laws. While many of these laws appear to have value, the punishment for breaking these laws is extremely severe physical punishment such as public whipping. One of the Sharia Laws is that one may not convert to a religion other than Muslim. In an attempt to ensure obedience to this law, several churches and the homes of those who care for those churches were torched last year in the Archdiocese of Lagos, Nigeria. At the request of the Archbishop of Lagos for help in restoring the churches and homes of the afflicted, with your help, a gift was sent to him to help the people reconstruct their homes and churches.
Seminaries Receive Books:
Nothing is ever perfect, and that includes the condition of books shipped to us by both publisher and printer. Sometimes it is the discoloration of water damage on the page edges. Other times it is a torn or marked cover. However, we did find a good use to put them to. Again, through the wonderful help of others, these books are shipped to seminaries in Third World countries for their libraries. Recently, a call for help from a retreat center in Nigeria gave us another opportunity to pass on the traditional teaching of the Church by supplying some of these books for a library there.
Newly-ordained Priest Furthering his Education:
We have been asked to assist with the further education of a newly-ordained priest, by allowing him to come to our Apostolate to work and study. Father Hilarion’s bishop is anxious that devotion to Our Lady be promoted even more widely, particularly in his diocese. Because Father Gruner has been doing this work for over 20 years, it seems appropriate that he teach others from his intimate knowledge of Our Lady of Fatima.
Distributing Marian Information:
Along with distributing petitions and sacramentals to over 24 countries around the world, we also distribute prayers to Our Blessed Mother and prayers taught by Her at Fatima. Since our mission statement is to make known, worldwide, the Messages of Our Lady of Fatima, we are also helping through the efforts of the volunteers to bring devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
