Father's Letter of January 2006,
re: The traps and snares of the devil
“In our time more than ever before the greatest asset of the evilly disposed is the cowardice and weakness of good men, and all the vigor of Satan’s reign is due to the easygoing weakness of Catholics.”
... Pope Saint Pius X“We shall be saved together or we shall be damned together.”
... Sister Lucy
Dear Friend of Our Lady,
I want to see you in Heaven -- So this whole letter is about YOU!
Your destiny is to go to Heaven, to be happy eternally with Jesus and Mary...forever. I pray, work and sacrifice that you achieve this primary goal of your life.
I, too, hope to go there to be with Jesus and Mary and YOU.
You and I both are destined for Heaven, yet neither of us can be absolutely certain that we will get there. The alternative is too horrible to even think about!
To get to Heaven, both of us must rely upon the GRACE OF God and the great merciful love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
We must pray, work, sacrifice, and do our duty, day by day and still, after all that, we must hope against all hope and yet not presume on Their mercy.
I have wanted to write this letter to you for a long time and I have struggled with it over several weeks now. I pray that it will adequately convey to you something that you may need to know (we all may need to know) to get to Heaven.
Please pray that we both learn this lesson sufficiently and above all with our hearts, in time before we die.
You see, by Divine Providence, it has fallen to me and apparently also to you, to know that the salvation of MILLIONS, perhaps BILLIONS of souls now living today depends upon the Pope and the Bishops doing their solemn duty to consecrate publicly and specifically Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Yet, up to now they have failed to do this most essential act. This knowledge carries with it a great responsibility. We must...
Think the Truth, Pray Perseveringly and Act Correctly!
Today, it is easy for us to fall into the many traps set by the devil. This letter is to help you avoid them, to show you the way out, to remind you what you need to know and what you need to do for your own salvation.
One of the devil’s favorite traps is to lull us into complacency and non-action with lame excuses like...
“The Pope doesn’t do his job. It’s all his fault. The bishops don’t do their job, it’s all their fault. I’m obviously not the Pope. I’m not a bishop. So I can do nothing. God does not expect me to do anything about this.”
“God can’t expect me to be any better than I am -- see the bad example of the Pope, of the bishops, of the priests. God will have mercy on me since I am given such poor leadership in the Church during my lifetime.”
“See how good I am. I’m perfect. I do all I can to please God. I understand the Fatima Message and I believe it. I’m not like those other terrible sinners in the parish rectory and the bishops’ house and even in the Vatican.”
“Our salvation depends on the Pope and the bishops -- so since I can do nothing, I’ll just keep on sinning. I’ll just live like the rest of the grasping, unbelieving worldly society.”
Perhaps my insistence (and rightfully so) that the Pope and the bishops are solemnly bound to do all they can to bring about the Consecration of Russia -- has given rise to one or more of the above lame excuses.
I m writing this letter to show you the way out of these diabolical snares and the feelings of discouragement or even despair you may sometimes experience.
I pray for your salvation that my poor efforts to explain it to you are sufficient enough to move you to do what God expects of you.
Jesus does expect a lot, yet -- His burden is light, His yoke is easy. May you embrace this cross, designed by Jesus just for you, and pray that I do the same.
Sacred Scripture tells us of other people, people like us, who were fearful, doubtful and in need of wise counsel, strong leadership, and constant encouragement to see them through desperate times and situations.
The Jews had Moses, who led them out of slavery, through the wilderness and to the threshold of the Promised Land.
And the Gentiles had Saint Paul, who, in spite of harassment by the government and religious establishment of his day, incessantly proclaimed the truths of the Faith.
All Our Lord s disciples have Jesus Himself, to show us by His example that it may be necessary to endure condemnation, suffering and even death to save others.
Now consider the tragic state of our world today. The Great Chastisement predicted by Our Lady of Fatima has begun. She told us that if only we would heed Her requests, the world will be granted a period of peace and many souls will be saved.
But who is heeding Our Lady s requests? Who will see to it that all that the Blessed Virgin has asked for is done?
The Pope has not acted. Most bishops and priests have not acted. Until this very day, they have failed to do this most essential act.
So it comes down to us. We are responsible -- YOU and I.
Good will triumph over evil by our own personal intervention. If not you and I, then who?
The devil eagerly awaits your fall into his trap!
You must not feel that because the Pope and the bishops have not done what they must, that you are somehow excused from doing what you must, to bring peace to the world and reach Heaven yourself.
That is what the devil wants you to think. He lays traps in your path, to discourage you, to make you give up your struggle for what you know is right.
I want to help you avoid the traps and snares of the devil.
I want to show you the way out of the devil s grasp.
I want to be sure you understand what you need to know.
I want you to know what you need to do for your salvation.
It's up to YOU!
Just because the Pope and the bishops do not do their part to heed Her requests does not mean there is nothing you can do. There are things that everyone can do, as individuals as well as together with others, to help God save souls and bring peace to the world as well as put down the devil!
The example of Christ and of Moses and Saint Paul all teach us the same thing. The message is for EVERYBODY to pray, hope and take action!
St. Paul tells us Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. He urges us to be ardent and zealous in our commitment to the Lord and our fellow men. In Romans 12:9-21, he also provides us with a check list of how to be good Christians and lead by example.
YOU Can Lead By Example...
Pray the Rosary every day no matter what.
Be visible to others in your actions and beliefs. Don't hide the light of Our Lady of Fatima under a bushel. Let the world know what you believe and why!
Be prepared to feel rejection and mockery from those who don t understand -- and maybe don t want to understand -- you. Our Lord was mocked and rejected. You must be prepared to unite yourself with His suffering.
Be ready to answer the questions and having the confidence to give the right answers. Read our Fatima literature to arm yourself with the truth of Our Lady's full Fatima Message.
You’ve heard the old expression: wearing your heart on your sleeve. You must wear Our Lady's Immaculate Heart on your sleeve by being ever more like Her; and pray that the Sacred Heart of Jesus will help you to face (and help convert) an often hostile world!
Remember! You are NOT alone!
Please do not misunderstand. Even though you have the individual responsibility to do these things, God has called many others to the same mission.
Those who stand with Our Lady of Fatima, and regularly support this Apostolate, are your friends in battle; not just lay people but priests, bishops and Cardinals as well -- working together with you as one, to bring Our Lady's full Fatima Message to a world in desperate need.
With Our Lady s guidance and help, and your support, we have, together, done great things in 2005.
Please read the enclosed list of accomplishments to see what YOU have helped us do!
We couldn t have accomplished all those victories for Our Lady without you and other dear friends of Our Lady like you. We thank God for your faith, your prayers and your financial sacrifices.
STILL -- The struggle continues.
We must not rest yet!
Even though we have made it possible for millions of people to read and hear Our Lady s Fatima Message of hope and peace, there are millions -- no, billions -- of souls who have not yet heard the good news.
The Consecration of Russia has not yet been done in the manner which Our Lady requested...
Reparations for the offenses given to Our Lord and Our Lady have not yet been made sufficiently.
Not enough people are praying the Rosary daily or observing the Five First Saturdays.
Our enemies, even within the Church, remain determined to silence Our Lady s Message. We cannot let them succeed. Not now! Not when victory is close at hand!!!
Let our motto be “Per ardua ad astra.” “Through struggle to Heaven”!
A special place with Our Lord and Our Lady awaits those who wholeheartedly help us in the never-ending battle to make the full truth of Fatima victorious over the opposition.
As we begin the new year, I am asking you...begging you...to let me know that you will stand with us. This is a critical time, for us and for the world. More than ever, we need your prayers and your financial support.
I ask you to pray at least one Rosary per week for me and for all of Our Lady s helpers here at the Fatima Center, as we strive to survive. And please make a special offering to help us begin the new year with confidence.
As always, we have bills to pay to keep the doors open and keep publishing the full Fatima Message on our www.fatima.org website, TV, our 24-hour Internet Radio service, and in The Fatima Crusader. We depend on your gift to continue our vital work.
Your sacrifice will help, no matter what the size!
If God has blessed you financially, I ask you humbly to share His blessing with us. If you can afford to give only a little, please know, as we learn from the Gospel, that even your widow s mite is helpful to us and pleasing in the Lord s sight.
We urgently need to hear from you within the coming month. Our need is great. The time is now. Please let me have your commitment today!
With all my heart, I thank God for your support, and ask Him to bless you richly throughout this new year.
Yours in Jesus, Mary and Joseph,
Father Nicholas Gruner
Most often, God and Our Lady operate through human instruments to achieve Their goals. As incredible as it may seem to you and me, They are relying on, of all people, US! -- to bring about the most stupendous victory in our time, the triumph of the Immaculate Heart. On judgement day, we will be asked --did you do (by your prayers, sacrifices and financial support) all that you could do to hasten Her triumph.
Let us not be discouraged! Today, let us renew our resolve, our commitment, and our good works, prayers and sacrificial offerings -- to bring about Our Lady of Fatima’s full peace plan - NOW!
