Catholic Church Losing Ground (I):
Islam Now World's Largest Religion
L'Osservatore Romano reported at the end of March that there are now more Muslims in the world than Catholics. Monsignor Vittorio Formenti, the compiler of the Vatican Yearbook, said, "For the first time in history, we are no longer at the top. The Muslims have overtaken us."
According to Msgr. Formenti's statistics, Catholics accounted for 17.4 per cent of the world population, while Muslims were at 19.2 per cent. The disturbing truth underlying these figures is that the Catholic numbers have held steady for some years, while the number of Muslims is growing rapidly.
Said Msgr. Formenti, "It is true that while Muslim families, as is well known, continue to make a lot of children, Christian ones on the contrary tend to have fewer and fewer." This reflects widespread disobedience to the Church's clear teachings on contraception and abortion. In fact some of the "Christian" nations with the lowest birthrates are the so-called "Catholic" countries.
Msgr. Formenti also stated that, adding in the adherents to other Christian "churches", Christians make up 33 per cent of the world population. This means that Catholics now account for just over half of all people calling themselves "Christians". This shows the failure of the Church to counter the inroads of Protestant sects, particularly in Latin America. This is the fruit of the false ecumenism preached by the likes of Cardinal Kasper. The Catholic Church is no longer willing to proselytize -- to attract and convert non-Catholics -- and is losing ground as a result.

Catholic Church Losing Ground (II):
Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons Now Fastest-Growing in U.S.A.
According to the National Council of Churches' 2008 Yearbook of American & Canadian Churches, the two fastest-growing "churches" in the United States and Canada are ones whose beliefs are plainly heretical.
Jehovah's Witnesses and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons), regarded by the Catholic Church as cults, showed the largest membership increases in the last year.
The Jehovah's Witnesses, 25th in size, grew by 2.25% to over a million members. The Mormons claimed 5,779,316 adherents and ranked fourth in size, behind the Roman Catholic Church, the Southern Baptists and the United Methodists. Their growth rate was 1.56%.
Not only the Catholic Church, but most other Christian groups, reject both Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormons as part of the Body of Christ. The Jehovah's Witnesses reject the Holy Trinity, while the Latter-Day Saints believe in the Book of Mormon and their other "holy" books as being of greater authority than the Holy Bible.
While the Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses were posting large increases, membership in the Roman Catholic Church increased by just 0.87%. That there was any increase at all is due largely to immigration from Latin America.
Liberal Protestant "churches", such as the Episcopalians (Anglicans), Lutherans and Presbyterians, saw large losses in membership. These denominations are currently wracked by theological differences and controversies regarding homosexuality, gay marriage and abortion.
Only three of the top 10 largest churches listed in the Yearbook are "mainstream" Protestant churches. Three of the top 25 are Pentecostal churches; and six of the top 15 are African-American churches.

St. Paul Outside the Walls Pulls Down Walls
The Archpriest of the Papal Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls is reportedly opening an "ecumenical chapel" in the basilica's baptistry. Why? So that "non-Catholic Christian communities [can] come and pray at the basilica and celebrate liturgy".
And celebrate liturgy? Their own "liturgies"? Liturgies that are not Catholic? All Catholics should find this more than a little disturbing. This is reminiscent of the sacrilege at the Fatima Shrine four years ago, when Hindus were allowed to conduct a prayer service -- praying to their heathen gods -- at the Capelinha (Little Chapel) itself.
There is no question that non-Catholic Christians may be privately praying in Catholic churches. Presumably they are praying to the same God in Three Persons worshipped by faithful Catholics. However, there is a problem giving non-Catholic Christians, let alone non-Christians who worship false gods, space at our altars and in our churches to conduct their own rites.
Why should we allow others to perform rites that show clearly that, in spite of the platitudes mouthed by Cardinal Kasper and other "ecu-syncretists", we are not all the same? The Catholic Church is the one true Church established by Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ while He walked on this earth. Our liturgical spaces are sacred!
To allow non-Catholics, let alone non-Christians, to perform their heretical or pagan rituals in our sacred spaces is a sacrilege. Though thousands of today's Catholics, spiritually lobotomized by the "spirit of Vatican II", fail to see it, ecumenism is, as St. Maximilian Kolbe said, "the enemy of the Immaculata".
