The Triumph of “Fatima: The Path to Peace!”
Demonstrates the Power of Truth
Our Lady’s Apostolate is a modest organization by worldly standards. Our resources are very limited. We perpetually struggle to pay our bills and keep our heads above water. We attack no one. Our sole mission is to promote peace through making Our Lady of Fatima’s Message known and obeyed.
The SPLC press release was picked up by other blogs, some of whom expanded upon its disinformation. It even made its way up the food chain until it surfaced in an interview on MSNBC in which Dr. Ron Paul, our conference keynote speaker, was asked if he intended to withdraw from our conference in light of the attacks. Dr. Paul said he would not and took the interviewer to task for “Catholic bashing” (see: “Must Watch: Ron Paul Squares Off Against MSNBC's Alex Wagner in Explosive Interview”).
Not all the prominent people who had agreed to speak at our conference acquitted themselves with the fortitude demonstrated by Dr. Paul. Some withdrew from the conference in the face of unfavorable publicity. We were not deterred. Those of us who have soldiered on in Our Lady's Apostolate these many years know that if we are not under attack, we must be slipping. We expect the occasional defection. We are in a hard line of work and not all can endure its rigors.
“Yet, in the end, the conference went on and was a magnificent success (see: “SPLC Witch Hunt Falls Flat in Niagara Falls”). Not one reporter from any of the news organizations that denounced The Fatima Center and Dr. Paul showed up to cover the conference. Not one reporter was present during Dr. Paul's talk. In fact, the only media publicity we received came immediately before the conference from a reporter who actually spoke to us (see: “Syria strike ‘unjustified,' Fatima expert says”).
“Fatima: The Path to Peace!” turned out to be exactly what it was intended to be: a gathering of people eager for world peace and willing to hear about Heaven's plan for peace.
We must also keep informed. Read the recent “Fatima Perspectives” articles listed below.
An Object Lesson in How Peace Can Be Achieved
One of the highlights of the conference was a talk on Sept. 11 by the Catholic Patriarch of Syria, Ignatius Ephrem Joseph III Younan (see: “Address by: The Patriarch His Beatitude Ignatius Youssif Younan Patriarch of Antioch”). When His Beatitude spoke at our conference, U.S. warships were ready to strike his nation; Russian warships were threatening to respond to any such attack. Iran and Israel were saber-rattling; and the entire Mideast, along with the world, was holding its breath, fearing what might happen.
Bishop Younan made a heartfelt plea for peace. He called for prayer, for reasoned dialogue, for a concerted effort by all the people involved — which meant every one of us — to do all in our power to stop the imminent attack and find a way to end the violence that threatens to engulf the world. It happened. On that very day His Beatitude made his plea, a tentative deal was struck that kept the missiles from flying and innocent civilians from dying and, for all we know, the beginning of World War III.
What part did we play? How does one gauge the power of prayer. A few days before His Beatitude made his plea, the Holy Father did likewise in a prayer vigil in St. Peter's Square, where 100,000 people asked Heaven to intercede in Syria. Still, we cannot help but observe that it was on the day when Bishop Younan addressed our conference that the impending violence was stopped. He touched our hearts and we would venture to say that everyone who listened to him that day, as he told of the sufferings of his countrymen, prayed to Our Lady to help the Syrian people.
There are those who are skeptical of the deal that averted the attack, but that is another matter. Heaven was besieged to stop the attack. The attack was stopped. What will happen now is up to Providence and our cooperation with Heaven's plan. That plan, we know, is to have the Pope and the bishops, together, consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Let us pray and work for this blessed event. Amid all the uncertainties of this world, we know some things for sure, among which are the following: Prayer works and Our Lady's promises are not in vain.
We invite those of you who were not able to attend our conference and who have not yet seen the videos, to log onto www.fatimathepathtopeace.org and listen to these wonderful talks. Once you have heard them, you will know why we had to have this conference and you will want to be a part of the continuing efforts of this apostolate. Your prayers and your alms are needed now as never before.
Latest Fatima Perspectives
Our Lady Is Still Awaiting the Consecration of Russia — In 1952, Our Lady said to Sr. Lucia: “Make it known to the Holy Father that I am still awaiting the Consecration of Russia. Without that Consecration, Russia cannot convert, nor will the world have peace.” At that time Our Lady had already been waiting 23 years for the Holy Father to act, having solemnly announced on June 13, 1929 that “the moment” had come in which God asked for him to consecrate Russia, promising to convert it by that means. Now in 2013, Our Lady has been kept waiting for more than 84 years!
Rules and Some Guidelines for Fasting — Our Blessed Lord Himself sanctioned fasting by fasting for 40 days and 40 nights in the desert; and though He would not impose it on the world by an express commandment, Our Lord showed plainly enough, by His own example, that fasting, which God had so frequently ordered in the Old Testament and Law, was also to be practiced by the children of the New Testament and Law. Our Savior Jesus Christ enjoined and prescribed rules for fasting.
Fatima Is About Love and Peace — Our Lady's visitations to Fatima manifest the love She has for mankind. It is a revelation of Her Motherly care for Her children. A mother is concerned for the well-being of her little ones. She sees they are nourished, educated and directed in goodness. She works to preserve them from all harm, even in spite of themselves.
Southern Poverty Law Center Strikes Again (Yawn) — The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), in an article republished by the left-liberal Salon magazine, has issued another of its breathless alarms about “radical Traditionalist Catholics.” This one concerns the “Fatima: The Path to Peace!” conference in Niagara Falls (September 8-13) featuring some 27 speakers, including Congressman Ron Paul, which will address, among other topics, the growing tyranny of the modern nation-state and the urgency of the Fatima message for both civic and Church leaders who are seeking peace and social order.
Beware the Praise of Your Enemies — Similarities between Pope John XXIII and Pope Francis have been noted in the Catholic blogosphere, with approbation for the new Pope's re-presentation of those qualities that made the old pope congenial to the media and, presumably, to Catholics in general: simplicity, optimism, spontaneity and, most importantly, a seeming disdain for doctrinal rigor and those who espouse it.
Is This For Real? — The mass media were delighted to report that immediately after the papal Mass on Copacabana beach during the just-completed papal trip to Brazil, thousands of women stripped down to their bikinis and plunged into the ocean for a post-Mass frolic in the surf. The reporter whose commentary is linked to above described the Mass as “a great beach party” for three million people. As predicted in the Third Secret, the devil has provoked unprecedented confusion in the Church since the Second Vatican Council, and this has led to a loss of the sense of what the Church really is: the spotless Bride of Christ, who is in the world but never of it.
Pro-Abortion Protestors Desecrate Chilean Cathedral — Abortion activists raided a Mass at the cathedral of the Chilean capital in Santiago on July 25. They destroyed confessionals; hauled pews all the way to the Plaza de Armas square in front of the cathedral; smashed ornaments and defaced side altars with blasphemous graffiti.
