Fatima Center Urges Prayers for Pope
Benedict XVI
Fort Erie: April 20, 2005.
Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger has been elected the 265th Successor of
Saint Peter. He has chosen the name Pope Benedict XVI.
The Fatima Center joins with Catholics around the world in prayers
for the new Pontiff. It also prays that the Popes choice of name is a
cause for hope. The last Pope bearing the name Benedict was the reigning
Pontiff when Our Blessed Mother visited Fatima in 1917.
During World War I, when Pope Benedict XV saw that all merely
human efforts had failed, he adjured Our Lady to show him the way to peace.
Eight days later, Our Blessed Mother came to Fatima with Her Message of peace
for mankind, accompanied by dire warnings if Her requests were not granted.
We can only hope that Pope Benedict XVI will be the one who
finally consecrates Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary exactly according to
the request of Our Lady of Fatima, said Father Nicholas Gruner, Director
of the Fatima Center.
Our Lady of Fatima promised, In the end, My Immaculate Heart
will triumph, the Holy Father will consecrate Russia to Me, which will be
converted and a certain period of peace will be given to the world."
Father Gruner comments, Our Lady has promised that
eventually a Pope will perform the Consecration together with all the bishops
of the world, as Our Lady of Fatima requested. If it is not this Pope, then
perhaps it will be the next. We know it will eventually be accomplished, and we
will continue to respectfully request it until the Consecration is realized. We
pray and work that the Consecration is done soon.
The Fatima Center also prays that the new Pope will restore the
Church to traditional teaching and practice. The Holy Ghost can move the heart
of a Pope to be a great restorer of Catholic Truth in a time of crisis. Blessed
Pope Pius IX was liberal when elected, but through the grace of God, became one
of the greatest champions of the Faith against liberalism in modern times.
The Fatima Message tells us to pray a great deal for the
Holy Father. The Fatima Center urges all Catholics to remain obedient to
this directive from Heaven, to continue to pray for the soul of Pope John Paul
II, and to pray that the Holy Ghost may guide and direct the new Pontiff, Pope
Benedict XVI.
The Fatima Center, home of "The Fatima Crusader", is the
world's largest Fatima apostolate campaigning for the promotion of the full
Message of Fatima, for the release of the entire Third Secret and for the
Consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. It is headed by Father
Nicholas Gruner, who has spent more than 27 years of his priesthood promoting
the Fatima Message. Its outreach includes the print media, Internet, Radio and
Television. CONTACT: The Fatima Center,
