Blessed Be God in the Highest

Partial-Birth Abortion:
"A Moment of Judgement
for America"

By Father Frank Pavone,
International Director of Priests for Life

A bill to ban partial-birth abortion has once again been approved by Congress and sent to the President. This is nothing less than a moment of judgement for America. We no longer hear people in this debate denying that a child is killed by this procedure. If our President vetoes this legislation, and if Congress cannot override the veto, then it is a clear sign that the ability of America to govern itself has failed in a radical way. This would be an outcome that no just person can either ignore or accept. State legislatures should continue to pass laws banning the procedure, and all people of good will should practice conscientious objection to laws which continue to allow the procedure. Massive, peaceful demonstrations in the streets should become the order of the day, to express the will of the people that legal child-killing has no place in America.

Fr. Frank Pavone is a priest of the New York Archdiocese and the International Director of Priests for Life. He currently works at the Vatican to help coordinate pro-life efforts throughout the world. Priests for Life is an official non-profit Private Association of the Faithful, recognized and approved under the Canon Law of the Catholic Church.
