A Most Revealing Passage

In my last column I made reference to the Pope’s indignant address on the last day of Phony Synod 2015, blasting those who had stood in the way of approval for what “the Spirit” — meaning his handpicked, unelected, progressive-dominated drafting committee of ten — was supposedly trying to say through the Synod Fathers. One paragraph of that address bears further examination as emblematic of Francis’ entire program over the past two-and-a-half years:

It [the Synod] was also about laying bare the closed hearts which frequently hide even behind the Church’s teachings or good intentions, in order to sit in the chair of Moses and judge, sometimes with superiority and superficiality, difficult cases and wounded families.

Letter #8: A Procedural Joke

Yesterday (October 23) the Synod Fathers completed their ludicrous one-day examination and debate of the Synod's final document, drafted by the unelected committee of ten and spanning (according to some reports) 50 pages. The only draft the Fathers were provided was in Italian, a language most of the Synod Fathers do not speak, there being no time in the midst of the synodal rush job to provide translations into the various languages spoken by the participants. Today, of course, the Church lacks a universal language, Latin having been abandoned in favor of the current Tower of Babel arrangement in the liturgy and otherwise.

Any serious suggestion that the End Times may be upon us is certain to raise eyebrows and a weak smile of condescension among those who regard the present state of the Church and the world as admittedly problematic but assuredly not insoluble by the usual means: economic policy, social reform, dialogue, diplomacy, and, above all, rhetoric that resonates with popular sentiment, largely generated by the media.
